Declining Wheat, Soy Ratings Not Enough to Hold Prices Tuesday

Row-crop futures turned lower for the most part on Tuesday with wheat and
soybeans both posting double-digit losses as traders finalize positions ahead
of Wednesday's USDA update. Precipitation models calling for rainfall later
this week across the U.S. grain belt ranging from Ohio northwestward to North
Dakota was a likely catalyst for selling, despite steady to lower ratings for
U.S. corn, soybeans, and spring wheat crops in Monday's Crop Progress update.
Outside energy markets continued on a firmer path for the most part Tuesday,
with the U.S. firing on a Panama flagged ship attempting to move through the
blockade in the Persian Gulf. Meanwhile, the war in the Black Sea continues as
well with little sign of de-escalation in port and shipping attacks.
